Terms of use
Last updated: 5 November 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses the knoelli app. You need an account to use it. By signing in, you agree to these terms. The provider is Yanay Baum; the address is in the Legal notice (German).
Minimum age
You must be at least 16 years old to use knoelli. You confirm this when you sign in.
What knoelli is
- knoelli is not a service of any city or public authority.
- The app does not replace official parking or traffic information.
- Reports come from members. Nobody checks them, and they can be wrong or out of date.
- knoelli helps you get back to your car in time. It is not a licence to park illegally.
- Do not use it while driving (§ 23 (1c) StVO, German road traffic rules).
Report fairly
- Only report what you see yourself, right now. No guesses, and nothing someone told you.
- No insults and no mockery of the people who do the checks. They are doing their job.
- Your pseudonym must not insult anyone or pretend to be someone else.
- No reports you know are false, no faked location and no automated access.
- Do not follow or harass anyone who does the checks, and do not obstruct their work.
- No content that breaks the law or the rights of others.
Your content
Others can see what you post in knoelli, such as reports and confirmations. You are responsible for it. You allow us, free of charge and with no time limit, to store this content, show it in the app and through shared links, and analyse it for the heatmap. This continues after you delete your account, then without a link to you. The privacy policy says more.
If you culpably break these terms and a third party makes a claim against us because of it, you indemnify us. This includes reasonable legal defence costs.
Muting and bans
If several of your sightings are marked “Gone” soon after, with no confirmation, knoelli mutes you automatically, first for 24 hours, then for longer. Your reports and votes then don’t count, and the map still works for you. This runs automatically under these fixed rules.
A person decides everything else: the operator reviews notices, removes content and bans by hand. Anyone who breaks these rules can be banned. A ban also applies to your device and to new accounts.
If you are banned, the app shows it. If you think a mute or ban is wrong, write to kontakt@knoelli.de and we review it again.
Report illegal content
Do you think something in knoelli is illegal or breaks these terms? Write to kontakt@knoelli.de or use the contact form. Tell us which content you mean, where it is and why you think it is illegal, and give your name and email address. We review every notice and reply to you.
This address is also our single point of contact for users and authorities under Art. 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act. You can reach us in German and English.
Free and without warranty
knoelli is free. We don’t promise that the app always works, that every alert arrives or that reports are right. You are responsible for where and how you park. Parking tickets, fines and towing costs stay yours, even if an alert is missing, late or wrong.
We are liable only for intent and gross negligence. This limit does not apply to harm to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, or where a law requires otherwise.
Ending and changes
You can stop at any time and delete your account in the app. We can change or shut down knoelli. If these terms change in an important way, we tell you in the app first and ask for your agreement. If you do not agree, you can no longer use knoelli. You can delete your account at any time.
Law
German law applies. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of that country’s mandatory consumer law.
